These twelve teams are competing for the Spring 2024 victory

Out of 159 ideas submitted to the Spring idea competition, 12 of the most promising teams and ideas were selected to proceed to the next stage. The selected teams aim to make the world a more hopeful place by improving mental health, recreational opportunities, and the state of the environment, as well as fostering community and ways for young people to make an impact.

The Spring idea competition encouraged young people aged 15-19 to develop ideas both in school and during their leisure time that would make the world more hopeful. To participate, young people had to form teams of 3-5 members and register their idea for the competition by the end of February. Among hundreds of ideas developed in various workshops and youth meetings, 159 teams participated in the competition. From these, the Spring jury selected 12 of the most promising ideas and teams to proceed to the next stage in the competition.

The selection of ideas to proceed to the semifinals was made by the Spring jury

Among the 159 ideas submitted to Spring, 12 teams were selected by the Spring jury, which consists of individuals with diverse expertise in idea development and supporting youth innovation:

• Jorma Ollila, Founder of Spring

The jury paid attention to the teams’ ability to identify problems, the relevance and originality of the ideas, the scalability and broader applicability of the ideas, as well as the composition and motivation of the teams.

Young people will decide the Spring winners in the final on May 7th

The 12 selected teams will further develop their ideas with the support of Finland’s top mentors during an Idea Incubator at Supercell’s office in April. After this, six teams with their ideas chosen by the jury will advance to the final.

The three winners of Spring will be chosen in the final, where young people will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite ideas. The Spring final can be watched live on May 7th at 13:00 on Yle Areena.

The pre-votes given by young people will also influence the selection of winners. Pre-voting begins on April 23rd and ends on the final day, May 7th.

All members of the three teams selected as winners in the final will receive a summer job and a study trip to Copenhagen as a prize, during which the teams will have the opportunity to bring their ideas to life.
