These teams compete for the title of Spring-winners 2026

The finalists of the Spring Idea Competition 2026 solve the climate crisis as well as challenges related to technology and sustainability. All young people under the age of 20 will be able to vote for their favorite of the six Spring-finalists during 30.3.–13.4.2026.

The Spring Final 2026

The Spring Idea Competition, produced by The Foundation for Children and Youth, invites young people aged 15–19-years old to learn about ideation and change the world. This Spring a total of 244 teams participated in Spring. The Spring-jury selected six of these to advance to the final stage of the competition: 

Idea 1: Unprompted  

An application developed by Aarush, Rudransh, Muhammad, Sneh and Leo from Helsinki helps students and professionals strengthen their intuition and critical-thinking skills instead of relying too heavily on artificial intelligence. 

Idea 2: Keratosorb  

An innovation by Iqra, Anna and Migle from Espoo transforms feather waste into a bio-based material that absorbs oil and cleans polluted water. 

Idea 3: Debatify  

An application developed by Prinit, Kaavya, Kiana, Joshua and Rudrakshi from Helsinki uses artificial intelligence to support the practice of oral debating and provides real-time feedback on communication skills and argumentation. 

Idea 4: Aerobloom  

A Helsinki–Espoo based team consisting of Bhuvan, Joa, Jose, Elmeri and Athreya developed an air-purification device that uses cyanobacteria to capture carbon dioxide, release oxygen and improve indoor air quality. 

Idea 5: Shellicon  

A solution created by Jenika, Danuja, Thiran and Vishmi from Joensuu offers an environmentally friendly smartphone case made from recycled eggshell powder. 

Idea 6: Reroute  

A service developed by the Helsinki-based team Juho, Tomi, Leo and Otso directs e-commerce return items straight to the next buyer without a global return chain, reducing emissions, costs and delivery times. 

“What unites the teams is that they have identified a real problem, they are strongly motivated to solve it with their idea, and they have the determination to keep developing it”, summarizes Amel Gaily, member of the Spring jury.

The 2026 Spring jury consisted of Kim Väisänen, Noora Saksa, Minttu Salminen, Amel Gaily, Kaisa Vainikka, Pietari Meriläinen, and Ville Voipio.

The public vote is open during 30.3.–13.4.2026. 

Young people from all over Finland will select the Spring-winners. The public vote, for all young persons under the age of 20, will be open during 30.3.–13.4.2026. The three teams with the most votes will win the idea competition.  

The Spring final broadcast presents all six finalist teams and their ideas. The half-hour broadcast is suitable for use during a school lesson and offers a chance to learn more about developing ideas as well as a showcase of the finalist ideas.  

The Spring-winners will be announced on 15.4.2026. The three winning teams will be awarded with a summer job and a study trip to London, during which they develop their ideas into something concrete.
